
Budapest welcomed As Roma and Sevilla, the last two teams who made it to the final of the UEFA Europa League competition, the match had most fans anxious as to see which record would come to an end. As Roma coach, Jose Mourinho who made a record of appearing in five out of five finals winning all, was about to make a sixth appearance with hopes of adding to his existing record. Sevilla, who is the competition’s most successful club , wining six out of six finals they have appeared in , also had some questions to answer, would they win their seventh final or not?
Paulo Dybala (AS Roma), scored the game’s first goal in the 35th minute in the first half. Sevilla levelled the score with an own goal from Gianluca Mancini in the 55th minute in the second half forcing the game into extra time as both teams could not find the deciding goal within the full 90minutes, the game had to be decided on penalties as extra time could not determine the winner, AS Roma manager, Jose Mourinho together with his team and Sevilla had to resort to the penalty shootout to decide their faith.
In the end, Sevilla were crowned champions of the UEFA Europa League for the seventh time whiles AS Roma were runners up with manager Jose Mourinho losing his first final after winning six in a row.
